Online Exemption Test by Sify for ICSI students.

Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has recently signed an agreement with M/s. Sify Software Ltd., as a result of which the online test for compulsory computer training of CS students, which was earlier conducted by Aptech Ltd. will be henceforth conducted by Sify Software Ltd.

For the ease of CS students, Sify has developed an online testing portal where the students can register themselve for the test and download their certificate after 15 days of passing the online test. This facility is provided to ensure minimum delay in receiving the certificate after clearing the online test.

Students can go to the online portal (http://icsi.sifyitest.com), register for the test and block a centre for appearing in the test. Payment for the ICSI online exemption test can be made both in online and offline mode (through branches of SBI using PowerJyoti scheme).
CS students can mail their queries and doubts to icsi_hlpdesk@sifyitest.com with a copy to asit.rath@icsi.edu

    Hi Binita,

    At the moment I don't know if the students will get study mats for the excemption test.

    The idea behind the test is to claim exemption from studying the Computer course from ICSI and hence, I believe the students opting for the exemption test will not receive any study mat.

    However the following chapters form the syllabus from which the questions will be made in the test:

    1. Internet & Email
    2. MS Word
    3. MS Excel
    4. MS Powerpoint
    5. Tally (Latest Version)
    6. E-Commerce, Conversion of MS Word file into PDF and vie-versa
    7. Practical Concept/Project

    Please let me know i fyou find the above information to be insufficient or wrong.

    I have attempted the said test Attempt - 1 on 23rd June, 2012 and scored : 49 result : Fail. Passing is : 50 M.

    Again I have given Attempt - 2 at the same centre on 30th June, 2012 and scored : 48 Result: Fail.

    During my Attempt 2, I have encountered the following at the centre:

    Immediately after commencement of test and solving Qns 1, the server took so much of time in saving the question and PC hanged. However, on my insistence, test centre afresh started my test. Thanks a lot to the centre people.

    It is a matter of concern that even after solving the questions in both the attempts, my result in both the Attempts declared fail even after scoring 49 M in Attempt - 1 and 48 M in Attempt - 2.

    There may be policy & fishy result (For 1 mark sake, Attempt-1: 49 declared Fail) by Sify...! I was some what trembled to be failed with 1 mark, out of successfully solving 100 M MCQs. This made me to think whether to pursue my CS course or not.

    I made payment for the test on 7th July, 2012, . If this time also I fail at the mercy of Sify, (as it is obvious that software can do miracles "to Pass / Fail", I have left with no option, not to pursue the CS course and do not recommend / encourage anybody to pursue the same.

    This may kindly be brought to the higher authorities of ICSI, for their review of conducting this test by other agencies rather ICSI itself.

    @Shruti, you don't have to pay anything to download the 1500 MCQ questions. It's totally FREE.

    For downloading it, click on the link that is given in our 'download files' page. It will take you to the site of the file hosting server. There you have to click on the download link, and the file will be downloaded.

    @Nidhi Yes, you can apply for Sify online test. But please contact your nearest ICSI chapter for a confirmed opinion.

    @Sriraj It's better to appear for Sify Online Test before appearing in the exam. However, let me inform you that till now ICSI has not stopped any student from appearing in exam, if he hasn't completed the sify online test.
